KitchenFit builds its cost comparison from the cabinets in your layout, not a generic per-foot estimate. The ranges are planning tools for early comparison. Not a final price or a live seller quote.

Your cabinet layout comes first

You start by entering room information and planning choices. KitchenFit creates a cabinet layout from those details.

That layout produces a cabinet list — the types and sizes of cabinets in the plan. The cost comparison is built from that list. You can begin with the kitchen layout planner or the cabinet calculator.

The same cabinet list is compared three ways

KitchenFit keeps the underlying cabinet layout and list the same, then estimates a cabinet-only range for three common buying paths:

That way you can compare different ways of buying essentially the same cabinet plan, instead of mixing unrelated layouts or incomplete estimates.

Cabinet type and size matter

Not every cabinet in a kitchen costs the same. Base cabinets, wall cabinets, sink bases, corners, tall or pantry cabinets, and fillers each play a different role — and wider cabinets typically cost more than narrower ones of the same type.

KitchenFit models the range from the mix of cabinet types and sizes in your list, so a plan with more tall cabinets or wider bases will look different from a simpler run of standard bases and walls.

Cabinet look affects the range

The look mainly affects the modeled front and finish portion of the range. Your layout and cabinet list stay the same — only the look assumption changes.

Custom includes additional fit considerations

The custom cabinet shop path includes an additional planning allowance for built-to-fit sizing and typical site conditions. That does not replace a field measure or a shop quote. It simply reflects that custom work often includes more fit flexibility than a fixed-size catalog path.

What the ranges do not include

These are cabinet-only planning ranges. They are meant to compare cabinet packages — not a full remodel budget.
